First Listen: 80s hitmaker Paul Laurence returns, and we “Missed” him

(June 19, 2017) — Paul Laurence has been a big deal to music fans for three decades, most notably when collaborating with hitmaker Freddie Jackson on such classics as “Rock Me Tonight,” “Jam Tonight” and “Hey Lover.”

The Harlem, New York native is still active and is planning to release a series of new singles, showcasing up and coming artists. On the first of these, he teams with a trio of young women from Virginia, New Jersey and South Carolina, formed out of Virginia State University.  Called Melodik, they handle harmonies deftly on the very nice new ballad, “I Still Miss You.”

Laurence says “It’s my way of giving back the ‘Soul of R&B’ to a new generation of talented artists, who want to maximize their extraordinary musical gifts. While great talent has never been the issue, music compositions in recent years, have not met the challenge, as it relates to R&B!”

We’re excited that the talented Mr. Laurence is back, and are just as excited to welcome Melodik to SoulTracks. Check out “I Still Miss You” below. It is our newest SoulTracks First Listen.
