First Listen: Nadir decides to “Go It Alone”

SoulTrackers who’ve been with us awhile know that we’re fans of Detroit funk, rock, soul and blues man, Nadir.  He’s always bringing us something real, and since it’s been a few years since we last heard new music from him, we were glad to hear he was working on a new album.

Adding to his already weighty collection of Detroit Music Awards trophies (now 11), Tennessee native and celebrated member of the Motor City Music Community Nadir stepped up to the podium in April to accept his 5th DMA for Outstanding Urban Funk Vocalist. “I am honored, humbled and grateful to be recognized by the heroes and heroines of this elite music city,”  says Nadir, “and even more excited because the latest award comes just prior to the release of my latest project, The Book of Jonah, which is a collection of songs that we hope chronicles this moment in the Detroit Music lexicon. Producing the album was a labor of joy for a wide spectrum of artists and musicians, many from Detroit, but also many from around the world who shared their talents to pay homage to the rich musical legacy of the city.”

Nadir has a new single and video from The Book of Jonah we think you’re going to like. It’s a spy thriller parody that visualizes a funky tune called “Go It Alone.” Check it out below and tell us what you think!
