First Listen: Myriam-Catharina is feeling “Bordeaux Red”

(December 23, 2024) For the past year or so, I’ve been very impressed with the works of Germany-based singer/songwriter Myriam-Catharina. Carrying the soul/R&B torch left behind by the late Amy Winehouse, Myriam brings her own approach to the game with a sultry overtone of a solid chanteuse.

The latest single, “Bordeaux Red,” is a mid-slow tempo tune,  with staccato-accents from the piano leading to the searing rock-guitar solo in the middle. Miriam tells a tale of a romance with a retro film noir tone lyrically. The opening lyrics describing her green eyes, black dress and Bordeaux red lipstick create powerful imagery. Miriam’s vocals do not disappoint – her style very straight-no-chaser, not having to use any aural pyrotechnics. She’s always pleasant to the ear.

Great to hear this new one from Miriam-Catharina and look forward to more great music from her as we enter the new year.
