(October 26, 2023) “Cure,” a song from Moonchild’s album Voyager, has been a fan favorite since the album dropped in 2017. “Cure” is the song that introduced many fans to the music of the LA based trio, so when Amber Navran, Andris Mattson, & Max Bryk started discussing songs for their upcoming EP Reflections, they were all in on including a reworked and reimagined version of the tune.
The original, with Navran’s sweet and seductive vocals imploring her man to drop the hesitancy and embrace the healing powers of love was an intimate, R&B conversation between two people trying to figure this love thing out.
If it’s possible to make “Cure” more intimate, Moonchild pulls it off with this acoustic version. Now, the song possesses a subtle swing as Navran weaves her angelic vocal in and around a piano that comes with a touch of jazz, as well as an acoustic guitar.
The pared down accompaniment allows listeners to take in Navran’s phrasing on lyrics that find her encouraging her love interest to let go of the pain from the past and fully embrace her. Check out Moonchild’s excellent reimaging of their 2017 song “Cure” here.
