Shades of Joss Stone and Emile Sande surface subtly in the groove and tone of “More Than You Give Me,” yet Millar—who composed, arranged, and produced the song—is authentic in her approach. Without resorting to showy ad-libs or obvious rhythmic catch-alls, her performance is succinctly convincing in mood and timbre. If you take your soul with real instrumentation, unaffected singing, and tell-it-like-it-is lyrics, the single will make an ideal playlist addition that grows on the ears nicely with repeated listening.
