(June 15, 2018) For the past two weeks Maxwell has been teasing fans with clues about his upcoming album, the third in the BLACKSUMMERS’NIGHT trilogy.
Today he issued the first single from the project. “We Never Saw It Coming” is a mournful song, lamenting a relationships lost, both personal and social. It is a message of loss and a world that has moved in directions that many couldn’t have imagined.
The arrangement is both sparse and haunting, and his vocals are solidly somber up front. It is a touching, moving number.
