Raye, who released their debut LP My 21st Century Blues back in 2023 to glowing reviews, sings about a feminine muse, whose “smile is warm like June…blinks in slow motion just like something in the Looney Tunes.” Glistening with intoxicating backing vocals, soulful guitar, Daptone-familiar brass and RAYE’s jazzy inflections, this sunny offering feels like a perfect ode to retro-soul summer anthems while also appealing to younger generations for its slick, lyrical flow. You’ll be singing along instantly, going “so, so good, oh” with the groovy refrain.
