(June 27, 2025) International hitmaker Mark Ronson has been behind some of the greatest 21st century milestones in the music biz, from Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black to the Bruno Mars collab on “Uptown Funk.” And even in the world of film, the Midas touch from Ronson has giving gold and platinum blessings to motion picture soundtracks like Lady Gaga + Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born (“Shallow”) and the all-star acclaimed Barbie soundtrack.

Ronson is not slowing down, either. In the middle of a sweltering June comes a new track that pairs the multitalented producer with British singer-songwriter RAYE. “Suzanne” is a welcome-home throwback akin to the Winehouse era, strutting with Bobby Womack-like guitar atop Betty Wright sass. Raye, who released their debut LP My 21st Century Blues back in 2023 to glowing reviews, sings about a feminine muse, whose “smile is warm like June…blinks in slow motion just like something in the Looney Tunes.” Glistening with intoxicating backing vocals, soulful guitar, Daptone-familiar brass and RAYE’s jazzy inflections, this sunny offering feels like a perfect ode to retro-soul summer anthems while also appealing to younger generations for its slick, lyrical flow. You’ll be singing along instantly, going “so, so good, oh” with the groovy refrain.
