Toronto based singer, songwriter and musician Luke Maxim is mostly known in jazz circles, but what he is known for is pushing that “jazz” definition into the borders of soul and rock.
Luke is about to release a new album called Stay and it shows he’s the real deal. We’re particularly enjoying the piano ballad, “Young and Beautiful.” It is a pensive song, punctuated by a mournful string section, as a young man asks his lover the ultimate question.
Luke tells us of the song, “‘Young and Beautiful’ is a great song. It’s so gorgeous and well written. Being a big fan of both Lana Del Rey and “The Great Gatsby,” I just had to record and include this song on my album. I am very pleased with how it turned out and I’d like to thank string players Drew Jurecka and Kirk Starkey for their incredible addition.“
