(April 20, 2025) Kim Waters is known as the very soulful saxophone player who has spent the last three decades making music that fuses jazz creativity with R&B rhythms. Most of his songs are instrumentals, but he’s been known to share the spotlight with vocalists. For example, Waters collaborated with an up and coming singer named Kenny Lattimore on “One More,” a ballad found on the saxophonist’s 1989 album Sweet and Saxy

Waters now teams with Raynard Gibson “Little Things,” a track from Time 2 Groove, the sax man’s latest album. “Little Things” is a sweet ballad that serves as a reminder that true and lasting love means people notice and find beauty in the features that most people don’t notice. If you really love somebody, you can find yourself attracted to the quirks that most people wouldn’t see or would find odd if they did notice them. That’s what true love does.

Gibson’s vocal floats into an intimate and conversational mode as he explains to his lady how his love and passion is aroused by things she may view as small and ordinary. Waters’ flights of improvisational fancy on the saxophone add a touch of jazzy call and response to the song. Check out Kim Waters and Raynard Gibson on the ballad “Little Things” here.
