(August 21, 2021) Earlier this year we introduced SoulTrackers to Boston singer and songwriter, Kim Tavar. Both an emerging artist and a 20 year veteran of the Boston Police Department, Kim hit us with her perceptive lyrics and her sweet vocal tones.
Kim now has a new single, and it is another attractive song that recalls the soulful funk of the 1980s. “1 + 1 Don’t = 3” is the story of a woman who addresses a cheating spouse, both defiant (I’m the best thing you know you ever had”) and ready to move on with wisdom intact (“Sometimes you gotta play the fool, to the fool who thinks they’re foolin’ you”).
With a mellow groove behind her, Kim keeps her vocals appropriately understated, as she both tells her story and sets her course going forward. We think SoulTrackers will dig both the message and the musical vibe of “1 + 1 Don’t = 3,” and will want to hear more from Kim Tavar. Check it out below.
