First Listen: Peaches & Herb’s Patrice Hawthorne finds “Peace”

patrice_hawthorne_facebook

In the early ‘90s, Patrice Hawthorne filled big shoes as the “Peaches” to Herb of “Reunited” fame. Following buzz generated from her appearances on Natalie Cole’s Big Break TV series, she set about a string of international performances of classics like “Shake Your Groove Thing” and “I Pledge My Love.”

Hawthorne had begun her session recording career prior to that coveted gig, and since that time, she’s performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra and formed her own band, Patrice and The Show. Now, in collaboration with producer Kbreaz1, she’s ready to step out on her own with the single, “Peace Once More.”

Merging her love of poetry with serene vocals, the lightly swaying midtempo groove delivers a message of appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and applying it to our interactions with our brothers and sisters. Bearing a simple yet flowing arrangement, the sentiment is carried out nicely by Patrice with a relaxed assuredness—and a brief homage to Cole at the song’s closing.
