First Listen: Juanita Wynn makes the switch on “Make it Right”

(May 26, 2022) Juanita Wynn can rightfully be described as a songwriter for the stars. She’s penned songs for Lalah Hathaway, Destiny’s Child and Angie Stone, just to name a few. But now, Wynn has decided to step into the studio, stand in front of the microphone and perform — and she does not disappoint with her new single “Make It Right.”

Sporting a classic R&B ballad arrangement, “Make It Right” tells a classic music story of a woman hoping that her significant other is open to reconciliation. As in all great songs, Wynn puts her own unique spin on this story. The cut tells the story of someone who recognizes that her words and actions have caused a rupture. She draws on experience of being the aggrieved party to express understanding and empathy.

In the course of a little less than five minutes, Wynn takes us through all of the emotions felt by someone seeking forgiveness and a second chance. The arrangement definitely has a classic R&B feel from the harmonizing and call and response of the backing vocals to the lush string arrangement. Wynn has herself a winner with “Make It Right.” Check it out here.
