(September 20, 2018) Longtime SoulTrackers know we’re big fans of singer and trumpeter Johnny Britt. He was nominated for a SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award for his work as one-half of the duo Impromp2, and we’ve been following him ever since. Johnny has played with a who’s who of artists and has written hits for the likes of Boney James, The Temptations and more.
Johnny’s Marvin Meets Miles album was an international hit a couple years ago, and now he’s returned with a brand new album that feature such noted artists as Najee and Paul Brown. A bonus single on the album that Johnny will be adding is his tribute to the late, great Aretha Franklin. Johnny tells us, “I was inspired by Aretha Franklin … as we all were. I was compelled to compose and perform this song with a choir after her passing in honor of her memory. The song is simply titled Aretha‘.”
