(November 7, 2016) We just discovered talented soulful jazz singer Jessie Laine Powell, and we’re already hooked. Jessie wraps her husky alto voice around a song and doesn’t let go.
Jessie has just released her album Fill The Void, and it is a jazz lover’s dream…and maybe a soul lover’s too. One of the songs we’re digging is a groovy adult number called “Antonio’s Song,” that is a cover of a Michael Franks classic. Jessie tells us about that song: “Michael Franks’ original bossa Nova tribute to Antonio Jobim through ‘Antonio Song’ was part of my Fill the Void because it brings the essence of Latin Jazz alive in me, translating my love for this genre to my listeners.“
