(May 28, 2025) The world discovered uber-talented singer and songwriter Jessica Reedy when she appeared on Season 2 of BET’s gospel singing competition Sunday’s Best, and the Saginaw, Michigan native took it from there, hitting number one with her incredible 2011 debut album, From The Heart, and winning the New Artist of the Year in that year’s SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards.
Since then, Dr. Reedy has spread her influence into other areas, including education, authorship (her book Learning To Live In The Moment), and even a popular podcast. But with the arrival of her newest single, Reedy reminds us of how she captured us in the first place, nearly a decade and a half ago.
“Lady In Waiting” is a gentle story of a woman who is patiently waiting and praying for the future love of her life, a man whom she hasn’t yet met.

And I’ll be right here praying, learning and growing till I meet you
As in many of Reedy’s earlier songs, “Lady” is a beautiful mix of gospel and southern soul elements, with exquisite backing harmonies and her expressive alto voice up front. It is a song that will touch many men and women who are in the waiting period of their own lives, reminding them that there may be a reward waiting for them behind the curtain of the future.
