It’s been a spell since we’ve heard new music from Jermaine Jackson. A star as a member of the Jackson clan and also as a solo artist — particularly in the 1980s when he had a series of big hits like “Let’s Get Serious” and “Do What You Do.”
Jermaine toured with his brothers over the past few years as a family act, but it is terrific to hear him back on record. And he ends the glorious Summer season with a song that pays homage to some of its best moments. “Summer Time Feeling” is a breezy acoustic number that captures the warm evening vibe of Smokey’s “Cruisin'” and features Beach Boys-worthy rich harmonies. It is a surprise release from the veteran soul man, but a welcome one.
