(November 18, 2024) The Gift Of Love, the new Christmas album by “American Idol,” Academy Award and Grammy winning artist Jennifer Hudson, features many of the classic Holiday tunes that we all know and love. It’s a treat to hear Hudson’s classically soul voice backed lush orchestration taking on tunes like “My Favorite Things,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “The Christmas Song.”
The Gift Of Love also includes original material, and Hudson had a hand and co-writing all those tunes, including “Find The Love,” the track featured in this First Listen. “Find the Love” places Hudson in a format where she may be most comfortable: sitting behind a piano that is her only instrumental accompaniment and backed by a choir, with both elements give the tune a gospel feel. That arrangement allows Hudson to showcase her vocal instrument where she has few contemporary equals.
Hudson realizes that people put a lot of pressure on themselves to make each Christmas the perfect Hallmark movie. That effort often results in people putting unnecessary stress on themselves. “Find The Love” is a reminder that the element for a meaningful Christmas is all around us – if we take time to look. On “Find The Love,” Hudson reminds listeners that the element we search for – love – won’t be find gifts, decorations and food that often become substitutes. True love on Christmas comes through cultivating relationships with those who are important to us and with connecting with the holiday’s true meaning.
