(April 22, 2022) It’s likely that Jaromir Loffler wrote his song “Everything Will Change” before Russia invaded Ukraine in February. However, a song wondering how much better the world would be if people could speak their minds without being jailed is more powerful when you turn on the television and see anti-war protesters being jailed in Russia.
Loffler grew up in behind the Iron Curtain so he must be shaken as he watches Vladimir Putin attempt to recreate that world. The war is just one of the events occurring around the world that makes “Everything Will Change” a timely song.
With his gravelly voice and an instrumental arrangement that draws equally from Southern Soul and the Black church, Loffler uses “Everything Will Change” both to express his fervent hope for a better, fairer and more humane world and to speak truth to those standing in the way of that world.
