(June 28, 2023) Terri Smith is a singer, songwriter and educator from Detroit who goes by the name Diviniti. In her musical career that spans over 20 years, she has been able to leave her mark in the electronic music scene, garnering a Grammy Nomination along the way. After collaborating with artists including Piranhahead and Louie Vega, Diviniti took the step forward earlier this year and released her debut solo album entitled In Due Time, while also releasing the engaging title track as a single.
Produced by another Grammy nominated artist, Josh Milan, “In Due Time” is a melting pot of genres that serves as an uplifting and encouraging uptempo track. It is a song that speaks to seeing the fruition of one’s hopes and dreams. While the track starts out with a house groove, it twists and turns along the way giving jazz, soul and Latin vibes as it evolves. Dipping in so many genres effectively keeps the listener involved, and Diviniti is able to keep the message consistent throughout the musical ride.
When describing her approach to her latest project, Diviniti states “I’ve always loved jazz and soul music, and I’ve been looking for the right moment to explore these genres in more depth.” With “In Due Time,” it is clear that the moment is now, and she is taking full advantage of it.
