(October 8, 2020) Blues and soul singer Diane Durrett is new to us at SoulTracks, but she has been a fixture in the ATL for awhile, both as a performer and as a member of the Recording Academy. And her work opening for such luminaries as Tina Turner and Koko Taylor has given her the kind of experience that clearly shows in her own gritty recordings.
During a recent meeting with a local politician, a fun twist of a political phrase came to Diane’s head that developed into the title of her newest single, “Make America Groove.” The funky, horn-filled number that resulted from her epiphany is a sneak peek at her upcoming album, Sweeter Love Grows, set for early 2021 release. Featuring the Good Times Horns, the song is both musically fun and lyrically uplifting.
As Diane tells us, “’Make America Groove” is a celebration of the power of music to unify people from all walks of life.” And we can all use a bit of that right now.
We’re proud to present the World Premiere of “Make America Groove.” Check it out below and tell us whether Diane has your vote!
