April 26, 2017 — Daniel Casimir is a U.K. composer and bassist who studied under jazz great Dave Holland at the Birmingham Conservatoire. He was the winner of the 2016 Young Jazz Musician Award and has recorded and performed with a number of notable U.K. jazz artists, including the Clark Tracey Quintet. Earlier this month, Casmir released Escapee, his debut EP as a bandleader, which is 5 tracks of sublime, jazzy soul.
We feature here “Close and Slow,” a groove-a-licious track with alluring lead vocals by Tess Hirst and virtuoso musicianship all around. Daniel’s band is tight, people. Enjoy.
