Cornell CC Carter gives the steppers a jam on “The Change”

(March 4, 2024) I wanted to kick off my shoes, lace up my roller skates and glide and spin down the street from the first note of Cornell CC Carter’s new song  “The Change.” There are a couple of reasons why I decided not to do that. First of all, it’s February and this is Indiana, and the temperature can drop 25-30 degrees just like that. Also, I haven’t seen my roller skates in more than 40 years.

But you get the point. Everything about this song just screams joy, sunshine, and love. “The Change” is a happy throwback. It’s an up-tempo love song and everything about this song just works. There’s smooth bass line that plays off the percussion and the breezy keyboards. And then there’s Carter’s sweet vocals.

Carter is singing about falling for a woman who made him change his world view. His vocals put the listener in the mind of a man who has discovered or rediscovered joy. “The Change” is a before-and-after song about how a person can bring about an emotional and spiritual metamorphosis that is apparent to everyone. We all should experience the feelings that Carter sings about in this song. Or we can just enjoy hearing “The Change” by Cornell CC Carter. Check it out here.
