First Listen: Conor Albert and Alice Auer tend to “Forget”

(February 21, 2021) Conor Albert and Alice Auer have found a groove. The two met in 2019. Albert is a 20-year old producer and multi-instrumentalist who started playing guitar at age eight and was diving into EDM music and learning how to play bass and piano by his early teens. Albert found a way to fuse EDM and his training on the bass, guitar and piano by making music that is jazz inspired and beat driven.

In Alice Auer, he found a kindred spirit. Auer shares Albert’s love of both jazz and beat driven music, and the two developed artistic friendship as the wrote songs for their upcoming EP. Albert and Auer have already released two tracks. The mid-tempo R&B track “Smile” and a cover of “Crazy He Calls Me,” a Great American Songbook standard that has been remade many time, but perhaps most famously by Billie Holiday.

Now, Albert and Auer have released their third single, “Forget.” The song is about letting go of the past and all that holds you back and embracing the future. It is an optimistic theme for which Auer’s sweet vocal is well suited. Auer said that “Forget” is the first song that the pair wrote together, and perhaps embarking on a new adventure inspired her the embrace the song’s theme.

I wanted to write a song about moving forward and leaving the past behind and not letting it hold me back, so that’s what I decided to base the lyrics on. I love the laid-back feel of the song and how that reflects the lyrical message,” Auer said. Check out “Forget” here.
