(July 13, 2025) Twenty-seven years ago, UK soul man Conner Reeves won over music fans around the world with his hit single “My Father’s Son” and the accompanying album Earthbound, followed by a tour with Whitney Houston. And then…nothing. Stage fright led Reeves to stay behind the scenes, writing for artists such as Rod Stewart and Joss Stone. But he also experienced a life filled with personal struggles and even homelessness.
So it is a very pleasant shock to announce Reeves’ return with his sophomore album, Ten Thousand Days and The Church of The Restoration, coming out August 29. Reeves says, “This album represents a new beginning for me. Or rather a realignment to what has felt like my true purpose all along.”
Reeves has just released a sneak peek of the new album in the form of the two-sided single, “Bones” and “The Sweetest Invasion.” Our latest First Listen focuses on the latter, a sweet Philly Soul-style ballad that find Reeves in fine voice, demonstrating that his sweet, soulful falsetto hasn’t lost anything in the more than a quarter century since he broke on the scene.
Check out “The Sweetest Invasion” below, and join us in celebrating the return of Conner Reeves.
