(October 27, 2018) Nile Rodgers has had a resurgence over the past few years, as a new generation of artists have come to adore the guitar licks he laid down as the leader of the legendary dance group CHIC. And so when Nile announced that he and his current version of CHIC were going to be releasing a new album, the music world celebrated. The album, It’s About Time, has been a moderate hit, with nods to many musical styles that go way beyond disco.
Fans of early 90s R&B will particularly dig the new mix brought by none other than the great Teddy Riley. He has created a remix of the single “Sober” that gives it a full on New Jack re-do, and it works great. This could have been a hit for New Edition or Blackstreet back in the day, but it sounds just fine on CHIC in 2018, with Craig David handling the vocals.
Check out the Teddy Riley mix of “Sober” and enjoy this fun collab!
