(April 20, 2020) It is almost trite to talk about a powerful female singer who grew up honing her voice in the Church. But houses of faith continue to be the best training ground for so many of the world’s greatest singers. And Elizabeth Baptist Church in Richmond, California was the starting place for talented young singer Cherronda G.
As she grew up, Cherronda was a singer in a series of Northern Cali bands, and opened for such notable singers as Chante Moore, Lenny Williams and even the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. In the process, she became a 3-time Bay Area Music Award Winner.
And we’re glad to have finally heard about her via her brand new single, “You Are My Love.” Produced by Cletus Wills and co-written by Cherronda, Cletus and Kenneth Boyd, the song is a classic soul-styled ballad that is really a straightforward love song from a woman to her guy, and a promise of lifelong faithfulness.
