First Listen: Chazz Oliver and Opelsings give us their “Love”

(December 11, 2024) ISM Recordings has been the studio home for producer/songwriter Garrett Chazz Oliver since 2007 and his ‘sound of music’ has overflowed with his musicality blending R&B, pop, dance and hip-hop.  Long before ISM Recordings took shape, the Washington, DC native grew up developing his musician and production skills.  The investment in Oliver’s crafts led him to collaborate with Kashif in the mid-80’s while in high school, before his breakthrough in 1995 co-producing with Nile Rodgers for Chic, All-4-One and others. Eventually, his industry experience landed an executive position for AEI Music Networks breaking songs in several genres, including for Lenny Kravitz.

Now in 2024, Oliver’s catalog seems to grow by the minute, as he partners with the next generation of independent artists such as vocalists Janay Saxon and Opelsings. The latter was spotlighted on a 2023 First Listen for the steamy 90’s flavored slow jam, “Stay,” where Opelsings poured out her heart through the romantic love complications.

For our latest First Listen installment, Oliver amps up the beats as “My Love” maintains the sexy, yet never foregoes the party mood.  Once again, Opelsings’ soprano takes charge, more than ready to go all out for a memorable, uncomplicated romantic encounter.  Oliver’s production savvy supplies another moment of 90’s R&B glory, flexing a bass-frosted, heavy snare pocket that somewhat echoes Ghost Town DJ’s crossover 1996 smash, “My Boo.”  Time to check out and move your feet to “My Love.”
