(September 27, 2020) Delivering a track that is both melodic and a bit retro, guitarist Chance Hayden brings vocalist Sarah Clarke along for the ride on his latest single, “The Comedown,” his lead single from his forthcoming sophomore project, Grab and Go.
On this song, Clarke, who shares songwriting credit with Hayden, sings about the various feelings that arise with a new love, and whether or not the feelings will last. It’s a play by play story that asks, “Are we brought together by this moment in time…or is it all in my mind?” Her vocals are complimented by an appealing vibe from the band (Hayden on guitar, JP Downer on bass and Tyrone Hendrix on drums), comparable at times to Al Green’s Hi recordings of 1970s. The result of all of those involved is an inviting mid-tempo piece that is equal parts jazz and soul.
Check out “The Comedown” and be sure to look for Hayden’s album, Grab and Go, set for a November release.
