Legendary Philly singer Carla Benson tells us “why” on new single

carla_benson

(May 6, 2021) She was part of one of the most iconic vocal trios of soul music history. As one-third of the famed Sweethearts of Sigma, Carla Benson performed on virtually every great song to come out of the Philly soul scene in the 80s by such artists as The Spinners, Patti LaBelle, The Stylistics, Lou Rawls and many more. Along with her other work, Carla has been cited as possibly having appeared on more hit records with more name artists than any other vocalist in history.

In addition to her work in the community and in stage productions, Carla continues to record, and is issuing a brand new single. “Tell My Why” was a hit in 1980 for MFSB, and now Carla remakes it as her own creation, with the same classic soul vibe as the original, combined with her beautiful, often ethereal voice.

It’s wonderful to hear this living legend on record again. Check out “Tell Me Why” and welcome Carla Benson back to SoulTrack.
