First Listen: Brooklyn Soul Stew rebuilds the funk, “Stone By Stone”

brooklynsoulstew

A couple years ago we introduced SoulTrackers to the nine-piece funky band, Brooklyn Soul Stew, via their very good album, Abandoned Tracks. We’ve been waiting to hear more from the talented group and the wait is now over!

Brooklyn Soul Stew’s new album Diggin In the Soulmine is coming out soon, and the sounds should warm the hearts of lovers of big R&B bands from the 60s and 70s. And we’re especially digging the cut, “Stone By Stone,” a tribute to the Blaxploitation films of the 70s. The group tells us:   “The song is a about when your heart is broken and you’re down on your knees you gotta pull yourself together and get back up in the saddle. ‘I’m gonna rebuild my house of love tonight, Stone by Stone’”

Check out “Stone By Stone” below and welcome back Brooklyn Soul Stew!
