(April 30, 2021) R&B fans everywhere know the name Brian McKnight, but not as many have heard the music of the famous crooner’s eldest son, Brian McKnight Jr. The younger McKnight has been performing both individually and as part of the group BRKN RBTZ (and in 2018 we featured his guest performance with Brandon Williams).
McKnight had some press last year related to issues with his father, but what was largely ignored in those stories was his growing career as a singer and producer. And his skills are shown in his brand new single, “Sprung.” A syncopated midtempo with a contemporary R&B feel, the song allows McKnight’s vocals to stand out front, and he makes the most of the spotlight.
“Sprung” tells the tale of a man smitten, and ready to take the relationship to the next level. And it may be the vehicle that allows McKnight to take his singing career to the next level also. Check it out below and tell us what you think.
