(November 2, 2023) The microphone has always been Bigg Robb’s friend. Bigg Robb is a man who entered the music business as a DJ in his hometown of Cincinnati, where he specialized in playing R&B and funk music while interviewing a bunch of artists and singing groups, particularly those who hailed from the Cincy and Dayton area.
Bigg Robb eventually connected with Roger Troutman and Zapp, serving in a variety of capacities, ranging from driver to engineer. Robb learned a lot about the artistic and business side of the music industry from Roger, who encouraged his protégé to make his own music. Robb became a performer in his own right after Roger’s tragic death in 1999.
Robb has become a major player in the Southern Soul genre over the last 20 years, where his use of the voice box made famous by his mentor allowed him to appeal to Zapp fans and Southern Soul lovers. And Bigg Robb looks to score again with his latest Southern Soul tune, “Black Woman Magic.”
“Black Woman Magic” is Bigg Robb’s ode to the woman whose superpower is making her man feel like a superhero while never losing her shine. A woman like that only grows in the estimation of the man fortunate enough to be by her side. And that man is always looking to be by that woman’s side, as the song and accompanying video show. Check out “Black Woman Magic,” the latest Southern Soul jam by Bigg Robb, here.
