First Listen: Last Bee Gees member Barry Gibb to release solo album

barrygibb-now

(August 21, 2016). Barry Gibb, the last surviving member of the legendary rock, pop, disco and R&B act the Bee Gees (see our biography), will be releasing his first post-Bee Gees solo album, In the Now, on Sony Records on October 7. Working with his sons Ashley and Stephen, Gibb has come out of a semi-retirement for the disc.

Gibb, who was the principal songwriter and singer for the popular trio, also created hits over the years for other artists, ranging from Dionne Warwick to Diana Ross to Barbra Streisand, with whom he also recorded several duets. While many media outlets have called In the Now Gibb’s first solo album, they have, of course, overlooked 1984’s hit album, Now Voyager. But this release is a big deal for longtime Bee Gees fans and a welcome return for one of the great songwriters of the past half century.

The title track of the album has just been released, and it is our newest First Listen. Check it out below.
