Avis Harrell began writing music as part of the sister group from Washington DC called The Fawns. She went on to become Ms. America Washington D.C., and later became a background singer, most notably with Ray Charles and Wayne Newton. She continued writing her own music and began a solo career, releasing both a number of singles and albums, the most recent of which is The Best of Avis Harrell.
Included on that album is Avis’s new single, “Early Afternoon Love.” Says Avis: “Watching the process of writers and producers like Freddie Perrin and Fonce Mizell who wrote for the Jacksons as well as our group inspired me. One of my favorite topics is romance. Love doesn’t always have to happen in the midnight hour. So I wrote and produced what “Early Afternoon Love” feels like under stars, the sun and the moon!”
