(August 28, 2024) “So Glad to Know You,” the new single and title track from Avery*Sunshine’s new album, could be called a ballad of gratitude and speculation. The song finds her expressing the gratefulness she feels that her significant other is a part of her life by singing about lengths she would go to make him a part of her life if the two were not one.
Basically, what Avery*Sunshine is saying with every hypothetical she conjures up in this dreamy, mid-tempo ballad is that if her husband didn’t exist, it would be necessary to invent him. “So Glad to Know You” expresses the sentiment felt by anyone who’s had the right person walks into their life at the right time. It’s hard to remember a time when they were not there, and impossible to imagine life without them.
“So Glad to Know You” is an homage to her husband, guitarist and producer, Dana “Big Dane” Johnson. The creation of this song is truly a family affair. In addition to Johnson, Avery*Sunshine’s daughter DrewTheRew helped to bring this song to life. The song was produced by drummer, vocalist and Grammy nominated producer Jamison Ross.
