First Listen: Ashley Scott explores the power of “Words”

ashleyscott

(August 20, 2016) Ashley Scott has been an integral part of Philadelphia’s musical institution for some time now. The nephew of The Three Degrees’ Helen Scott, he is Vice President of the city’s Recording Academy chapter and has sung background for soul legends such as Jean Carn.

The singer has teamed up with composer Alysha Ashley for his solo debut single, “Words,” a poignant and purposeful ballad which opportunely demonstrates his heartfelt vocal style amidst an authentic arrangement boasting live piano, guitar, drums, and bass. Exploring the positive and negative connotations of statements made during the heat of the moment in an intimate relationship, the song keenly conveys sincere concern for the well-being of Scott’s signicant other, set to a straightforward and stirring melody.
