(July 16, 2025) Sometimes living up to a reputation can prove to be challenging. And the music reputation that the city of Philadelphia has garnered over the past half century is significant — with a signature sound in the Soul R&B landscape. That legacy can also be a weight on newer artists carrying the Philly soul torch. But singer/songwriter Ashley Scott has been able to overcome that pressure, successfully doing his part in recent years to continue the musical tradition of the City of Brotherly Love, and and hopes to keep the flame lit with his newest single, “Love You For All Time.”
Co-written by Whayn Parr, “Love You All of Time” has its roots in R&B but also spreads into the Smooth Jazz space with the legendary Najee providing his signature flute to the track. While the song features a groove reminiscent of eras past, it’s subject content is a very current and relatable. Scott sings of his pursuit and ultimate capture of the love of a woman he met online. It’s an ambitious attempt but a successful one with the great blend of vocals and musicianship.
The title track from his recently released album, “Love You For All Time” sets the stage for Ashley Scott to continue his growth and evolution as a vocalist, songwriter, and artist.
