DC-based singer Anissa Hargrove made her name 20 feet from stardom, singing background for a who’s who of R&B singers ranging from Patti LaBelle to The Delfonics. She now sings regularly with disco queen Gloria Gaynor and longtime SoulTracks fave Shirley Jones of the Jones Girls — when not performing as a lead singer herself.
A couple years ago we introduced SoulTrackers to Anissa with her very nice single, “Crazy,” and we’re glad to report she’s back with more great music. “Never Give Up” is a soulful, mildly bluesy ballad that tells the story of the dreams of youth, and how the mountains that life can lead someone to stop believing in those dreams. But her testimony is of conquering those mountains and of one big piece of advice: “Never Give Up.”
