(August 21, 2018) Over the years we’ve loosely followed the career of uber-talented NYC artist Akie Bermiss. The Bard College-educated singer, songwriter and keyboardist creates a “live” feel in everything he does, giving an immediacy to his music that is palpable.
Earlier this year, Akie released the EP #basedonatruestory, and it was an unadulterated winner. He’s just issued a new video from the project that again reminds us of the classic talent he brings to the table. “Send It On” begins with a light piano opening before developing into a big call-and-response number that highlights Akie’s brilliant vocals and a Gospel feel.
Akie tells us, “In a general sense, this song is about loving someone despite all of the obstacles life throws in the way. ‘Sending it On’ is essentially about answering those obstacles or doubts or naysayers by committing wholeheartedly to one’s significant other….and, indeed, the final line ‘love you while my heart’s still strong’ is meant to argue against vacillating and worrying and taking too long to simply be with someone. i.e., do it while your heart is still strong enough to bear the burden of loving someone.”
