(January 4, 2022) Last year’s Unfinished Business was a welcome return for one of the most beloved vocal trios around. Four years since After 7 made a triumphant comeback with Timeless – an excellent album that reconnected them with their adult soul audience and won for them two SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards – the members showed that they still have it goingbig time.
And on this great new album, the most celebrated by fans has to be the beautiful ballad, “No Place Like You.” A song that combines love and a sense of heartbreak, “No Place” displays the emotions of a man who realizes what he’s been missing. As Kevon Edmonds explains, “I am fairly certain that if you live life long enough, you’ll learn that you can’t have the sunshine without the rain. ‘No Place Like You’ was inspired by the thought of knowing that you can build a house with all the finest materials in the world with the best of everything in it. But in reality, it’s not these things that make a house a home. It’s the love from that special someone.”
