Choice Cut: Sargent Tucker feels “The Presence of You”

We’ve been happily following Bay Area singer, songwriter and guitarist Sargent Tucker for a decade now, and we continue to marvel at his ability to meld classic soul and pop sounds with current vibes. He’s won over quite a following in that time, including thousands of SoulTrackers.

For his new single, Sargent gives us a song that would have fit right in with Smokey Robinson’s Imperial solo period of the 1970s, expressing a romantic message delivered through an alternating falsetto and lower register lead vocal that works just right.

Sargent says that “The Presence of You” is a song that “conveys how the presence of a significant other creates a beautiful aura when sharing space together.” It’s a great message and an even greater addition to his growing discography.

Check out “The Presence of You,” our newest SoulTracks Choice Cut, and welcome back Sargent Tucker.
