Choice Cut: Fred Reed Music throws away those lover’s “Roses”

fredreedroses

Fred Reed has a life that is defined by much more than his music — but we really like his music. In his community of Wilmington, Delaware, Reed has dedicated himself to helping the children, resulting in multiple local awards.

But let’s go back to his music, where Fred Reed (who goes by the moniker Fred Reed Music) has brought a sense of the classic soul sounds to his contemporary songs for more than two decades. And for his latest single, Fred brings that musical mix to a song about a man in a lover’s bind. He has given his girl all he has, but that love was not faithfully returned, leading him to now figuratively “throw away the roses” of love that he had given to her for so long.

“Roses” combines powerful retro-soul vocals with a more contemporary hip-hop syncopation. It all works well as a bridge of time and styles. Radio should love this one. Check out “Roses” below. It is our newest SoulTracks Choice Cut.
