Arguably the most popular female vocalist of her generation, Beyonce Giselle Knowles, commonly known as Beyonce, has been a virtual tour de force as a singer, dancer and actress.
The Houston native first came to the public’s attention as the teenage lead singer of the R&B group Destiny’s Child. The group became the biggest female act of the late 90s and early 00s, with a series of #1 hits such as “Say My Name,” “Independent Woman” and the infamous “Bootylicious.” And despite multiple member changes during the group’s tenure, the most important constant was Beyonce.
Beyonce became a solo singer in 2003 with Crazy In Love and never looked back. She has been a hitmaker, an advocate for social change, and a master marketer of her work and her image. And we wish her a very Happy Birthday!
