Tahsan7

Tashan7 fka Tashan made a significant impact on the R&B scene in the late 80s with his smooth blend of soul, jazz, gospel and hip-hop. Born in Pougkeepsie, Tashan started his music career as a backup singger for the rap acts The Fat Boys and Kurtis Blow before transitioning into a career as a solo R&B singer. His first shot as a solo vocalist was with Whodini on the song “Yours For A Night.” His deep, emotive voice and thoughtful lyricism quickly set him apart in a crowded music landscape.

In 1986, Tashan released his debut album Chasin’ a Dream on Def Jam Records, which showcased his unique style of soulful storytelling. The album included standout tracks like “Read My Mind” and “Got the Right Attitude,” establishing him as a fresh new voice in the genre. Two years later, he followed up with On the Horizon, which featured the single “Keep Movin’,” a smooth, inspirational anthem that became one of his signature songs.

Tashan’s music often touched on themes of love, perseverance, and self-discovery. While he never reached major mainstream superstardom, his loyal fanbase and critical acclaim have earned him a lasting place in the hearts of soul music lovers. And he continues to perform in the 2020s under the moniker Tashan7, and is releasing the massive Talkin’ To Myself project. Check out his website
