Official Biography (courtesy of Pete Belasco)
NY native Pete Belasco just wanted to be a songwriter, but an accident crushed both hands and left him alone to recuperate and explore his talents as a vocalist. His misfortunes quickly turned when he was signed to Verve Records and recorded his debut “Get It Together”. Hits magazine raved, “Slow R&B grooves that promise to seduce you into a bed not made since Marvin Gaye’s, Let’s Get It On.”
The journey continued as Belasco returned with “Deeper” on Herbie Hancock’s label, Transparent Music. The sensual, relaxed, and erotic feel continued. The Village Voice declared, (Belasco) “floats a magnetic set of vintage vibes…smoothly exhaling R&B ballads in the manner of Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, and other close-mic’d soul guns.” They declared, “You need this!”
Since the success of “Deeper”, Belasco went into somewhat of a self-imposed exile from the music industry, dedicating himself to raising his children and concentrating on composing. Aside from a few rare appearances, Belasco has been locked away….until now…
The wait is over. For the first time in nearly 8 years, Pete Belasco delivers his highly anticipated new recording, “Lights On”.
“This is what 2012 Soul and Jazz should be!”
