Born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1963, France Joli emerged as a bright star of the late 1970s and early ’80s disco and dance music scene. From an early age, Joli displayed vocal talent, and by her mid-teens, she was pursuing a professional career .
Her big break came in 1979 when, at just 16 years old, she was tapped to replace Donna Summer at a high-profile concert in Fire Island, New York. Stepping onto the stage in front of a massive crowd, Joli delivered a stunning performance of her debut single, “Come to Me,“ a soaring, sensual disco anthem that quickly became a club sensation. The track rocketed up the Billboard charts, peaking at No. 15 on the Hot 100 and cementing Joli as a dancefloor darling.
