Another Groove: HAIM Are “Walking Away”

kek

July 15, 2017 — Welcome back to Another Groove, our series dedicated to new music that is neither pure soul nor R&B but which contains elements of those genres and may delight your ears. This week we feature “Walking Away” by the band HAIM.

HAIM are the sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim who were born and raised in California’s San Fernando Valley on a steady diet of their parents’ classic rock and Americana records. They released their debut album Days Are Gone in 2013 to considerable commercial and critical acclaim, reaching #1 in the U.K. and #6 on the Billboard 200.  Their music reflects a wide variety of influences, ranging from their hero Stevie Nicks to the softer side of Pat Benatar, with occasional forays into hip hop rhythms and golden California power pop.

The featured track here is from the band’s new album Something to Tell You and is a very spare, hypnotic and beat-driven ballad that rises from the mist of the sisters’ soft harmonies.  Enjoy.
