First Listen: Michael Jackson’s “Joy” heard on long lost song?

(February 14, 2016) When Michael Jackson released his hit album Dangerous in 1991, he recorded several songs that didn’t make the cut. One of them that reportedly was dropped was a song he co-wrote with Teddy Riley and Tammy Lucas, that you may have heard in another form. “Joy” went on to become a hit for Riley’s group, BLACKstreet, in 1994.

The original Michael version was just leaked on YouTube by a DJ. The midtempo still sounds a little unfinished, but it is definitely a worthy cut. Here is the rough Michael Jackson cut and below it is the version from BLACKstreet that you may know better.

Publisher’s Postscript February 16, 2016: After we posted this, a SoulTracker posted a comment that this is actually the remix of a Michael Jackson soundalike named Marcus Williams. We’ve posted his version below. So what do you all think? Real or fake?
