(April 29, 2025) K.Avett’s new song “Always Tomorrow” is about the importance of understanding when the stars are aligned, and the urgency of acting on that knowledge to be totally in the moment. In this case, the moment involves shutting out the distractions and locking into an important relationship. Don’t assume that person will always be around. Or as K.Avett sings “It’s always tomorrow/Until it’s today.”
K.Avett packages this serious, philosophical message about the importance of using time and appreciating relationships in an arrangement that sports an easy, laid back jazzy swing, in which she engages in a conversation with the backing vocalist and the saxophone riffs of collaborator Vandell Andrew.
The song finds K.Avett talking to a person who is important in her life who is occupied by any of the worldly concerns that shift focus away from the person with whom they are sharing space. While one person is being distracted, K.Avett wants to bring them back to a moment that could be special if they could just understand how fleeting this moment could be.
She encourages her significant other not to take this moment for granted. Don’t assume that this ambiance, this relationship can be recreated on another day. “The clock is always ticking/time is always slipping away/ To make another memory and savor all the love we can make/So take good care and hold me tight/Tomorrow may not see the light.”
