World Premiere: Austin Gatus and Sophia James won’t “Change”

(April 8, 2025) “Don’t Want This to Change,” the new song by the singer, songwriter and saxophonist Austin Gatus, takes the listener to a place where many have been – a young person trying real hard to navigate a long distance relationship.

The song captures qualities and emotions that compel people to seek to make a relationship work when two hearts find themselves in different time zones or even separate parts of the world. Love and idealism lead people to believe that they can beat the difficulties and temptations of maintaining a long distance romance.

Gatus is joined on this duet by American Idol alum Sophia James. The two alternate as they melodically express what drives them to make this work. Gatus and James both bring a youthful energy and excitement that captures belief that they have something that can overcome the odds.

“Don’t Want This to Change” is the lead single from Gatus’ album You’re My Muse, which is due to be released later this year. The album is inspired by Gatus’s personal story of being involved in a long-distance relationship, You might want to know if Gatus and his long distance love are still together, You’ll just have to wait until the album drops. Until then, enjoy the World Premiere of Austin Gatus and Sophia James on “Don’t Want This to Change.”
